Prohibited & Restricted Items

In short: If it's illegal, dangerous, fake or stolen, it can't be sold on Masio. Some items are allowed only with the right license.
This list isn't complete. Masio may remove any listing we reasonably believe is illegal or unsafe. When in doubt, ask support before posting.
1. Prohibited (never allowed)
Weapons and dangerous items
- Firearms, ammunition, parts and replicas that could be mistaken for real guns
- Explosives, fireworks, and military or police equipment
- Weapons designed to injure, such as knuckle-dusters and stun guns
Drugs and medicines
- Illegal drugs, cannabis and drug paraphernalia
- Prescription-only medicines, injectables and antibiotics
- Unregistered herbal "cures" or anything claiming to cure serious illness
- Codeine and tramadol products
Health and body
- Human organs, blood, body parts and human remains
- Used underwear, and used cosmetics or personal-care products that have been opened
- Cosmetics containing mercury, hydroquinone or other ingredients banned by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana
- Unregistered skin-bleaching products
Fakes, stolen and illegal goods
- Counterfeit or replica branded goods
- Stolen goods, or items without proof of ownership when asked
- Phones that are blacklisted or locked to someone else's iCloud or Google account, or with altered IMEI numbers
- Pirated software, films, music, games, or "cracked" accounts
Documents, money and accounts
- Government IDs, passports, Ghana Cards, driving licenses, certificates or academic results
- Counterfeit currency
- Bank, mobile money or SIM cards registered to someone else
- Social media accounts, followers or reviews
- Personal data or leaked databases
Financial schemes
- Pyramid or Ponzi schemes, "investment" offers, loans from unlicensed lenders, betting tips, lottery schemes and crypto "doubling"
Animals and wildlife
- Protected wildlife and their products (ivory, pangolin scales, skins), and bushmeat from protected species
- Animals for fighting
Adult and offensive content
- Pornography, sexual services or escort services
- Items promoting hate or violence
Services
- Hacking, "account recovery", fake documents, exam leaks, or "spiritual" services promising money, cures or harm to others
Other
- Recalled products
- Items located outside Ghana that require the buyer to pay import or customs fees in advance
2. Restricted (allowed only with conditions)

| Vehicles | Seller must be the owner or an authorized dealer. Include year, mileage and condition. Must be able to show DVLA registration documents to the buyer. A posting fee applies from January 1, 2027 (Fees). |
| Property and rentals | Owner or a licensed/authorized agent only. Show real photos of the actual property. No "viewing fees" before a viewing. Rental advance terms must be stated in the listing. A posting fee applies from January 1, 2027 (Fees). |
| Jobs | Real employer or registered recruitment agency. No fees charged to job seekers. Posting more than 1 job requires Business verified. |
| Alcohol | Sealed, from registered sellers only. Buyers must be 18+. No home-made spirits. |
| Tobacco and e-cigarettes | Sealed, from registered sellers only. Buyers must be 18+. |
| Food and drinks | Must be safe, labeled with expiry dates where required, and from FDA-registered producers if packaged for sale. Home cooks must follow food-hygiene rules. |
| Over-the-counter medicines and supplements | FDA-registered products only, from licensed pharmacies or chemical sellers. |
| Cosmetics | FDA-registered or clearly labeled with ingredients; no banned ingredients. |
| Pesticides, fertilizers and agro-chemicals | Products registered with the Environmental Protection Authority, from licensed dealers. |
| Live animals and pets | Healthy, legally owned, not protected species. Seller must describe vaccinations. |
| Used phones and laptops | Must be unlocked, signed out of iCloud/Google, and not blacklisted. IMEI available to buyer on request. |
| Second-hand electrical items | Must be safe and working, or clearly listed "for parts". |
| Replica or "inspired" items | Allowed only if clearly unbranded (no fake logos) and described as "inspired by" without using brand names in the title. |
3. What happens if you list a prohibited item
We remove the listing. Depending on the item and your history, we may also warn, suspend or ban you, and report to the authorities. See Acceptable Use Policy.
